Dr Usui started his own ReiKi Society in Japan and was the first president before he died in 1926. The seventh president is now in office.

The society still attunes people on the exact spot on Mt. Kurama where
Dr Usui meditated. There are a number of his writings at the society in
his own handwriting, with symbols in the near obsolete style of 70 years
ago.
Since the 1870's discovery of ReiKi by Usui-Sensei, ReiKi has mushroomed. On his tombstone in Tokyo, it states that before he died in 1926, he taught about 2000 people. Many of them went out to spread ReiKi and to heal. Recent years have seen a huge increase in the number of ReiKi practitioners worldwide. The estimated number of ReiKi person's worldwide have been put at about 5 million. Many scientific studies have proved that ReiKi really does work.
Engraved on Usui-Sensei's tombstone at the Saihoj Temple in Tokyo, are the following words:
If ReiKi could be spread throughout the world
it would touch the human heart
and the morals of society.
It will be helpful for many people
and will not only heal disease, but also the
Earth as a whole
Even now, after Dr Usui's passing
ReiKi will spread far and wide
for a long time to come.
